Background:
My name is Anna Cirilli. I was born in a small town in Superior, Wisconsin. I always exhibited a passion for education and leadership. Following my dream, I attended the prestigious education program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I obtained and earned a bachelors degree in Sociology and Elementary Education. I continued my education at Concordia University, where I earned a Masters Certificate with a focus on School Leadership.

I have always been interested in working in the field of education. Obtaining my teaching certificate helped me to reach my goal of becoming a teacher. The first year after graduation from college, I served as a teacher's aid in a classroom of students with who have autism. This allowed me to gain knowledge and experience in writing Individualized Educational Plans and assuring that the goals of each student were being met. The next school year, I began teaching at a successful school on the south side of Chicago - Marcus Garvey Mathematics & Science Elementary School. I have taught at this school since 2000.

At Marcus Garvey, I have had the opportunity to expand on my knowledge and ability to become a master teacher and a school leader.

Through the last seven years, I have worked diligently to build stronger relationships between the school and parent community by volunteering to assist with the management of Graduation Ceremonies, Award Banquets, and as a facilitator between the school community and the learning environment. While at Garvey, I have also focused on providing additional social and academic enrichment activities to improve the success of all students.

In recent years, I have served as an intern administrator of the summer school program, organized Family Nights, Parent Nights, and a Poetry Slam. Additionally, I served as the writer and editor of a school newsletter, the designer of a comprehensive staff development program, a member of the School Improvement Plan Committee, a cheerleading coach, a double-dutch coach.
