Matt was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois. His family later moved to the Southwest Side of Chicago near Midway where he grew up. Matt attended private grade school where he picked up an instrument: the Clarinet. He played in various groups in High School and has played at Soldier Field twice, old Comiskey Park, the Downtown St. Patrick’s Day Parade and various other venues.
The passion grew in music that he went to Western Illinois University to study music and become a teacher. Matt spent three years teaching high school and junior high band in West Central Illinois. He moved back to Chicago in 2001 and began teaching junior high bands at schools in the Mt. Greenwood/Beverly and Ashburn areas for seven years. It was also at this time he met his beautiful wife and fellow musician/teacher Lauren. They were married in July of 2005.
In 2008, Matt found Chicago School Supply and is dedicated to the community in CPS Area 2. Although he is not teaching anymore, he wants to draw on his passion for working with schools and helping them.
Matt still plays his Clarinet though! He and Lauren with a few friends play every Monday at Elmhurst College and perform four concerts a year.
